Hey all, I'm LeeAnne also based in canberra, I've not got my mini yet, I'm still on the hunt. Got a small budget and very little experience with resto so would love a running run around for a bit of weekend fun! However I'm also willing to learn how to fix the odd bits n pieces!

Hi all
Names Luke from Canberra and I'm just beginning a mini project. Picked up a 1988 jap import rover mini rolling shell in a pretty bad way today so currently on the hunt for as many useable bits a possible without spending a fortune and somewhere to ask questions and learn.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Luke,

Welcome and Good luck with not spending a fortune.

Welcome and Good luck with not spending a fortune.

Thanks I realise that's a tall ask but at least initially I'm under strict instructions not to go too crazy.

G'day all,
I'm George from Melton West in Victoria. My first car was a Leyland Clubman S 1100 which I bought brand new from Fyshwick ACT in 1974. Paid $2924.20 cash. Often wonder where it ended up. I traded it in, in Newcastle NSW around 1977 or so.

My current mini is a 1967 Mk1 Cooper S which I bought recently and paid substantially more than I did for the Clubby and am loving it.

Not new but I haven't been around for a few years so thought I'd better come here.
I'm now living in Coonabarabran NSW after discharging from the RAAF back in 2012. We have a farm with sheep, goats etc and I am working for Dairy Farmers delivering milk.
I have an early Astro Grey 850 van (not running for a few years) and a bare shell 67 Deluxe.

Welcome back Dave...goats for the meat or wool? Some friends of mine struggled raising Angora for year's then went Halal and haven't looked back  :D

PS How many milk crates would fit in the van? :P

Hi I’m Dave,
My first car was a Porcelain Green 1964 850 Mini over 40 years ago. I ripped the engine out and replaced it with an 1100 fitted with a 20/60 cam, twin 1 ¼ SUs and extractors coupled up to a remote shift gearbox. Fitted Copper S wheel flares, grill and bumpers. Painted it “Brown Satin” (XC Falcon colour). It looked pretty good and went ok too. Sold it a couple of years later to buy a campervan (silly me)
Fast forward 40 years and I have recently bought a Dec 1977 Clubman S as a retro project + a complete 1976 Clubman for parts for the project car + a rusty 1976 Clubman S body shell (still has sub frames / suspension and steering rack) for parts.
I live in Toodyay WA (approx. 100 NE of Perth)
I have been a member of Ausmini for about a year. I have read a lot of great information over that time so I thought I should put my fingers to the key board and introduce myself.
Cheers
Dave

Welcome Dave. Nice to see you've surfaced from behind the scenes. :)

There's a good group of Mini enthusiasts in your part of the world so don't hesitate to ask for help if needed.

Hi Ethan. Great choice picking a classic Mini as your first car.

Hope you realise you are now infected? No amount of antibiotics or other medicines will get the joy (and sometimes heartache) out of your system.

Feel free to post pictures of your pride and joy, or ask questions. I suggest you add your location to your user profile so it appears in the left column when you post. That way others in the same area as you may be willing to help should you have any issues.

Hi George. Welcome to Ausmini. :)

Is your car listed on the Cooper S register? If not we would keen to add it. Just send me a PM with the details.

Hi All,

I'm Andrew and live in Malua Bay (South Coast NSW). Don't own a mini but hoping to fix that some day soon! :)

Really been enjoying looking through the forum and learning from the experts thanks.

Have a great day.

Hi all.
So a few months ago I bought my first mini. A 1967 fully restored mini that I had been admiring a few years. Both myself and my wife are loving it.

Today I picked up my second mini and my first project. Couldn't be happier (and nervous as I now see just how much work is ahead).

So I thought it was about time I became a participant rather than just a reader. I have throughly enjoyed reading the posts over the last few months and they have been an invaluable resource to a noob (and I hope they will continue to be in the coming years).

Looks like a relatively original car from pictures, shouldn't have too many faults. ( there......now I've put the car restorer's curse on you) :-) :-) :-)
