Welcome, it's a pretty nice looking base for a resto! Do you have any plans?

I was hoping that with a spit and polish [FACE WITH STUCK-OUT TONGUE AND WINKING EYE] that I could drive it around dirty for a while but since I have got it home and had a closer look that's not an option.

Early next year I'm hoping to start a full restoration. Keep the 850 look and features but upgrade the suspension, disk brakes and also do a little to the engine (as it doesn't have the original one).

Hoping that it will be on the road and "finished" in 2020.

Hi everyone, Bill G here in Ithaca, NY, USA. About two years ago I acquired a genuine 1969* Morris Cooper S from MiniGuy. In doing some research, I learned tha the car was purchased new in Casino, AU on Xmas eve 1969. The owner ran into a tree some 18 months later and smashed the body. The car sat in storage for the next 20 years while the owner became a well-known Mini collector. In 1997 he found a Cooper S shell and restored the car as a tribute to the first Mini he ever owned. The body is stamped showing it to be one of the final 112 Cooper S shells produced in 1971. He painted it Daffodil Yellow per the original (of which only 17 reportedly colored; along with 17 in pink). The engine was bored out to 1330 from the original 1275, and it has a 4-spd synchro. The car shows at 95 points and is an absolute blast. A Mini enthusiast from AU on holiday took photos at a show in upstate NT on Saturday, Oct. 7th. Cheers!

Hi Bill. Thanks for the update. The info in the mini magic magazine didn't explain the reshell as well as you. They mentioned it being a replica and that the doors were different to the original crashed car.

Being a genuine 1971 S shell with 1969 bits the car should be classed as a 1971 S and regoed using the 1971 chassis number and ADR plate.

It's titled as a 1969. Fuzzy here.

Good to see the Aussie cars being shown off. Is there a Mini car club in your area or do you show the car with a classic car club?

Unfortunately neither. I drive and show as time and opportunity permit.

Nice looking machine Bill...Enjoy :D

If the car (as pictured) didn't have a loaded trunk...then schedule a hydrolastic system pump up

[PS if the car looks low at the back due to the incline or the camera angle...forget what I just said!!! ]

Hey 1360 cc
The car was lowered a bit on restoration. I actually did get a tool for pumping the hydrolastic suspension and did pump mit up this summer to recommended pressure.

The technique is usually to pump up slightly overpressure drive it around for a while then a couple of days later drop it to the right ride height and/or pressure :D

I'm finally here...looking for a good place to start my research on buying my first mini. You can call me Sarge for short :)

I'm 40, live in Newcastle and am dreaming of a nice mini van, hopefully blue to use as potentially a daily driver. But before I make the jump, I wanted to learn about the cars, see how easy (or hard) they are to maintain (i'm no mechanic) and if a mini will make sense in my life.

My eyes and ears are open. Point me in the right direction :)

I think the best thing to do is to find some local mini owners, go have a look at cars and ask some questions and see what you like. I'm not sure if there is a Newcastle mini group, but there is a group of mini owners on the central coast that have events

Hello!
I'm Andy from the USA. I am about to purchase what I believe is a fine example of an Australian Mini and look forward to joining the group! As it is a project and being restored I am in dire need of your learned advice. I'm excited to meet you all and excited to start on this journey :)
