Hi Guys.

My name is Craig and I live in Melbourne.
awesome to be here on the forum. theres a heap of info and experience here which is awesome!
I emigrated here back in 2015 and brought my modified 1994 rover mini mayfair with me. She started life as a 1275 SPI mayfair auto.

fitted a 1991 rover cooper engine and gearbox. Still trying to jump hoops getting her through VASS, RWC and Rego.

really looking forward to putting faces to names.

Hi Guy's and Girls,

My name's Paul and I've joined the Forum on behalf of my Father, who just happened to work for both BMC (Zetland) and Leyland Australia (Moorebank) throughout the 60's and 70's.

Mini's have always been apart of our family and he's only just finished a ground up restoration of a 70' Mini K, which has taken just a little over 5-1/2 years to restore.

Welcome. Good to see another enthusiast. Maybe a restorated photo wouldn't go astray. What expertise did your father have at BMC/Leyland?

Welcome Paul,

Is your "Dad" aware of this group? If already a member etc...fine, no need to respond :-)

Hi Cooperess,

Well, here's a picture of the completed car which was restored by my 74 year old Father.

In regards to my Father's position(s) with BMC and Leyland, from memory he was assigned to both the 'Hot Run' test room, Experimental and Automatic's (BMC), and then drove the first prototype (hand built) P76 on the road (Leyland), while witnessing the development and build up of both the Force 7 and P76 Station Wagon.

And to answer your question 9YaTaH, yes my Father is aware of the BMCLA Heritage Group (thank you...).

In regards to the Mini, he just has some finishing touches to do (Wheel alignment, lowering the height, centre wheel caps and dyno tuning...).

The car has turned out better than what he had expected!

Some thanks go out to both Bob Rowntree, Ian Fahey, TJ and not to mention myself!...Lol.

To be honest, the car was finished in honour of his dear beloved Wife (my Mother...), who unfortunately passed away from Cancer in 2014, and did not see the car finished and registered on the road.

Yes, he's just in the process of re-balancing the wheel's and then he'll be placing the Mamba centre caps back into the wheel's (the later version plastic caps, which need to be modified to fit the early castings...) to finish them off.

Here's a picture of the engine bay, with just the Rocker Cover to paint and some fine detailing.
