There were several versions of the fluid with differing recipes. See the Technical Bulletin and BMC Service Training Notes for the Morris 1100 in this thread - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=88452

Since then I've seen the relevant section of the BMC Standard for the fluid, which mentions four versions depending on climate.

So the Methanol also works to thin the fluid
So do you think if i made my own brew that a small amount of Methanol would make a difference
Or just go with the water/glycol blend
Last time i saw a frost here I cant remember

I really need to get myself organised and clean/fill my spare units...

Well after fixing my blown hydro bag and refilling the suspension i decided to drain the other side out
I drained the mud out
I used my set up to vacuum out more mud
Then refilled it with my formula
That was last weekend
This weekend we went for a cruise to get the fluid circulating
So this afternoon i drained that side again
And WOW More Mud
So this is going to happen a few more times till it becomes nice and green
I hate to see what others hydro systems are like

I had a front down hydro deluxe.

I say had - because I mixed metho and coolant concentrate to 50/50 and pumped that in, brought the front up nice, keep the toolbox in the back to bring the rear down a bit more.

Works fine!

One of the 1% additives was made by Union Carbide. I can't remember which one.
Union Carbide is no longer in existence as they had some problems in India when they managed to poison a lot of people some time ago with a gas leak from one of their plants.
Bhopal springs to mind!
I'm not sure but the victims relatives may still be fighting for compensation.

I have always found that the original fluid found in displacers was more viscous than all of the mixtures people have suggested. I believe that the ingredient that we all are missing is Glycerine which thickens the mix. Glycerine is water soluble and would quite easily blend with the other ingredients.

Just my thoughts.
