I have just installed chrome side mouldings on my 66 Deluxe. They came up a treat by utilizing a hair dryer on the 2 tight bends. Overall they are a tight fit but I'm guessing a speed they would work their way loose. Are there clips available to hold them on or do I install pop rivets on the underside, or are there any other tricks to keep them retained. Thanks. |

no idea. Mine were held on with rivets in 4 spots on each side (either side of the wheel arches). I've seen these trim clips used on other cars. Maybe someone else can tell us both as I will be putting new ones on for Bathurst |

My MK1 S has the moulded side strips and they are only pushed on. However I put a set of the standard side strips on my Clubby last year and it needed a rivet at the front and back. I haven't tried any type of clip. |

I put these on the other night, http://minisport.com.au/chrome-plastic- ... of-the-car Took less than 5 mins each side, no clips or rivets or heat and it was cold about 10c. Couldn't believe how easy it went on. |

When talking to John S, he suggests nothing at first, then clips, then if all else fails rivets. speaking of which i need to redo mine. |

Thanks guys. I have a few of those clips that DOZ suggested. I have a bit of time on my hands before she hits the road. Will wait till then and allow for any stretching then put a few on. I think one at each end, one at each end on the straight bit before the bends, nothing on the wheel arches. |

I have used S style plastichrome mould on my mini K without flares - no clips or pop-rivets - just sits in place. It's a bit harder when fitting to plastic flares. By the way, the factory accessory flare kits came with the same trim clips used on the vertical seam covers - a simple U-section with barbs on both sides. I have never used them so don't know how well they worked as most of the moulds grip without any extra help. |

We glue them on the race car as they come loose at speed. Contact adhesive and then push them on. |

the vertical seam cover clips are not the same as the ones for the cooper s side moulds if you look at the two , you will see that the side mould clip has a angled raised edge on one side only this edge hooks behind the top edge of the side mould , the under side is flat other than the barbs that lock onto the metal lip When my cooper s moulds where put on , there where no clips and no rivets over time as the mould shrunk , expanded and hardend to the shape of the car edge they became loose this is when I put clips in , and only where the mould was very loose on the seams I found it better to pull the mould back slightly , put the clip in the mould , not on the seam , and push it back on the seam Over a 4 year period I would probably have put on a total of 12 clips. and not on the tight bends neither just my 2 bobs worth Mark |
