I agree Lillee, my old felt was just a rust production product because water got under it. I know you need to work out why water is getting in but if it does I want to be able to see it to sort it out. I am thinking of using some Velcro adhesive tabs to fix underlay to floor and walls rather than glue the whole thing down. That way I can get it out if water does get in. Not sure if it would work but I am going to try it.

I wouldn't ever glue anything to the floor. Even if it is not "sponge like" the water would still be trapped under there.

It's always worth checking carpets are not damp. Even a perfectly leak free car will get wet carpets from driving rain when the door opens or soaking wet boots/shoes.

The engine side firewall sound mat makes a big difference esp if Centre speedo as there is a hole there where speedo us. Also protects back of speedo from dust and water.

What would people recommend for the roof? (I'm liking Dynamat for the removing of vibration, however it does nothing for heat transfer).
Dynapad - firewall.
Dynamat - door skins / floor.
roof - ?

Upol "gravitex" can be used as a spray on sound deadener as well as stone chip. Works out about $35 a litre.

My 2c!

I've already applied that to the underside of the car (went through 3 bottles)
Not wanting to regret missing any stages on this car!

Personally, I would avoid any bitumous type deadners on the roof due to heat esp. in summer. You wouldn't want melting tar dripping all over your new headlining! Plus the smell. The factory fitted that brown underfelt (albeit only in part, not the entire roof area), so that's what I've done. My 20cents worth.

Again carbuilders a Melb outfit. I did a Falcon ute over 18 months ago since done 2 other falcon utes, Dmax and series 1 Landrover.

They make a sound deadener and accoustic liner

I am not associated financially with then ......unfortunately.:)
