Every seat I have ever seen has had #10/32 unf threads sometimes incorrectly referred to as 3/16 unf.
#10/32 is a very common thread used on a Mini and all BMC cars of the era.

It seems the parts book and standards manual is correct this time, which is not always the case. :P

Just chatting to John Smidt and he mentioned having seen pressed metal wing nuts used for this application. I hesitated to mention it earlier but I'm almost certain the 1969 MK II S I purchased new also had this style wing nut.

My late 68 MK 1 S has the pressed metal ones.
They are basically a speed nut with "wings".
At first glance they look like they may be solid but they are not.
The stud they screw onto is probably #10/32 tpi UNF but I haven't put a thread gauge on the stud.

The pressed metal type are apparently called American style wing nuts.

Mine are definitely UNC/whit, although it is a Wover mini. They're originals, I've had seats apart.

Hi
Can get the pressed wing nuts size 10/32 UNF through EDL Fasteners here in NZ. :-)
