well got the bearing issue sorted

and the new baulk ring arrived today and it bottoms out the gear and it has a sloppy fit

should i turn 10 thou off the baulk ring.

this one is fighting me to the end

I and others take .020" off the old baulk rings for more life.
Not had a problem.

After reading previous posts re which baulk ring to use i have turned the best old style baulk ring down 2o thou and now have clearance. Thanks for the posts.

Yes I have done about 4 over the years. However last time we fitted a 3.1 diff instead. This gives you the same 1-2-3 ratios as a MK 2 S but a taller 4th. Better for cruising.
And it's about 1/2 the price now.

At great expense I had my Mini K gearbox rebuilt with close ratios. First time around synchro didn't work 2nd and 3rd gear. Had to pull the engine and get it redone. Excuses I didn't understand. Was a complete PITA. Having said that, all is good now and the gbox works really well with the engine. Can do close to 100 km/h in 2nd but I don't do that anymore, I was "testing" :-)

4 synchro close ratio gbox
Cooper S brakes, no booster
Stealth box, as Doc says "goes harder and idles!"
RH tank cos I needed it crossing the Nullarbor etc..
