Guys I have been following something similar on another forum for a few years. Its no secret that I have been gathering info for a book on mini racing for a few years now (yes I know it is slow). Thought we could start our own thread of old racing pics.

Bruce McLaren Believed to be Caversham WA. Believed to be 1962. The car was one of the first Coopers made and possibly the first Cooper ever raced in Australia. I have another closeup of the car somewhere I'll try to locate it.

I used to attend a lot of race meetings in the early 1960's, Oran Park, Catalina, Lakeside and numerous others that have long since gone, took many many pictures of the mini's against the Mustangs, EH holdens and Cortinas, had probably 150 to 250 colour slides of mostly the mini's going past as I had a 1963 Cooper.

Few years ago while looking at the slides decided to get rid of those that no one seemed to be interested in as there were boxes and boxes to put somewhere and space was needed for more important things at the time and of course the racing were the first to go, so very sorry now, but too late.

Probably my all-time favourite photo. Very rare shot of Brian Foley in Singapore in 1967. This is the old 1071 works car originally given to Brian. It was believed to have been one of the 3 yellow 1071's sent out here for evaluation. Advertising was permitted on race cars in Singapore and KL in the 60's. Upon return to Australia this car was changed to red/black and gold and first raced in this livery at Lakeside in 1968.

Same car following the race, on display at Dicky Arblaster's dealership

Phil's time of 59.3 second lap around Lakeside still stands as the fastest ever by a Mini. Incredible when you consider engine and chassis development over the last few decades. Legendary indeed.

A beautifully detailed shot of Brian's car when it was still relatively new. Still 1071 at this stage and all the trim is on the car. Pieces seemed to fall off it over the years. Funny how that happens.

The ex-Paul Gulson sports sedan. As it is today, till complete and sitting in a shed if someone would like to restore a beautifully historic sports sedan for Group U.

The McLaren Cooper photo was taken in Perth, not NZ as mentioned.

Correct this is the other photo I was looking for and was taken at their family petrol station in Perth.
Very cool looking car.

Watched the McLaren doco today...in a shot showing a bunch of F1 and CanAm cars in Bruce's London workshop...the Mini van used to test wings and a Mini sedan that could be the McLaren/Flockart car can be seen... 8)
