They have been hidden in a box since 1983, like the rest of the car. Can't rush these things....

My 03/70 model has plastic still has the contact cement where they go onto the vents. I seem to remember my 1970 model that I bought in 71 also had plastic.

Thanks guys,

ausdino- Thanks mate for measuring those pristine demister hoses of yours  much appreciated!

Thanks Doug for posting up those manufactures specs!

Just looked in John Sneddon's book and came across this:

Some extra background information is in Service Liaison Summary 101 (copy below) that John referenced. Taken as a photo so the quality isn't great.

I didn't think my 1969 S had plastic tubes but clearly it did. My 1970 car is within the range quoted in the SLS.

An asterisk next to the number in the Item Illustration column means no image on the adjoining page of the parts book. In some cases it's just one or two items that don't have a picture but in this case it's all items so the adjoining page is blank.

Was there something in particular you are after? I may have other exploded parts diagrams for the plastic heater.

... or this may help - http://www.somerfordmini.co.uk/eshop/in ... page&id=98

Are the steel grills on the demister vents the same colour as the car or semi gloss black ? Mine appear to be same colour as the car (connaught green), a lot of the paint has flaked off though.

I thought the images below of the demister vent tubes on my SPO41 Cooper S might be of interest.

You can see the split at the heater end of the tube which is bound by genuine, original black BMC Australia friction tape as per the SLS above. :D

I wonder if New Old Stock of this tape is available. :? Wouldn't want to take shortcuts on the restoration and be marked down by the concours judges, would I?

The tube is glued to the vent at the other end.

P.S. You can see the wiring for the Smiths Impulse tacho installed at the Zetland factory as part of the SPO41 Police specification option. Holes have been drilled in the firewall near the big round cover plate as they find their way to the engine compartment. The thick brown wires are from the switch for the Police Hella driving lights.
