So goldbracade you fixed it with a pcv? How do you hook these up? I haven't used one before

I hooked mine up like a cooper s off inlet manifold to bottom of pcv top side to crankcase no breather in rocker cover but you need the filler cap that suits that system too

I have one of those water heated single 1.5 Su manifolds. It does have a threaded hole in it with a grub screw in it could I use this for a pcv valve? Can I have a pic?

Yes you can screw a fitting in there for a PCV valve. But if your SU has a vacuum port on the side, I'd use that instead, no valve required. Simple but works. Was used on Clubman 1275LS also late 998.

Google PCV 13.

Or use the big Smiths Cooper S, and Morris 1100S one.

You mention that you lose some water from the radiator. Do you mean that if you don't top it up, it will eventually empty itself, or that after topping it up and going for a drive, the coolant level drops?

If you don't have an overflow the coolant level will drop after a heat cycle - and then stay at that level, provided all is good. I agree with the doc to check that it's not regular condensation - take it out for a long drive and see if it clears it up. You can also check if the coolant is dropping past normal at the same time.

You also mention it's running cold - what are you using to measure that temperature? Most mini gauges are at best an indication.

G'day irish, I have a capillary gauge installed and it reads at approximately 65 degrees when warm. I leave for work at 5 in the morning and being cold this time of year it won't even get up to 60. The condensation doesn't clear up as it's a 50 min drive and it's still the same. However it was a little low on water the other ay and running at 180 which is like 82 degrees I think and there was basically no condensation from this run however it has started to blow a little oil out the breather so I'm thinking the mechanic that put my cam bearings in has installed them wrong so will have to put a feeler gauge with a hole in it under number one rocker to reduce the oil flow.

Could be just normal thermo-syphoning coolant loss from the type of running its doing...fit an overflow tank if it don't already have one

I believe the normal symptom of cam bearing upside down is the rocker cover filling with oil and pouring out of the oil filler cap... I think you'd have noticed that by now

Yea that's what I was thinking Simon. I do have oil that somehow gets all over the top of my rocker cover I have driven then hopped out and seen whether or not it is full of oil but it's not. What else could cause this?

But I also have a hose on my breather into a bottle and have started the last couple of longer drives to get oil in there. The same reason I knew of the condensation.
