My bolt runs east horizontal the floor with steering wheel and wheels straight.

Sorry I forgot to reply earlier

My Rover mini is the same as above. Parallel to the floor and under the shaft.

All racks with the slot for the pinch bolt have it horizontal at bottom with rack centred. Applies to both late Oz made racks and Rover ones.
I have thrown out a few Rover racks, couldn't get parts to fix them.

not "all" - I have a brand new UK rack in my car and with the pinch bolt horizontal I have a much tighter right turning circle than left... even with the rack pushed all the way to the right side of the hole in the floor... manufacturing error maybe

When I run 12" wheels for motorkhanas, at full lock when turning right, the outside edge of the drivers side front wheel rubs on the inner guard near my foot

I thought maybe the rover pinch bolt position might have been different, hence the question

I'll adjust it out with the tie rods, but I'll have to make something to move the indicator self cancelling lug :( (maybe a cable tie!)

Simon, I think you will find brand new UK racks now are in fact Chinese made. I am talking genuine ones...

so what Kev? a UK manufacturer could drop a pinion in a tooth out just the same way a Chinese one can...
