Any ideas

When you say noise goes away 'in gear', is that just in a gear or is it with drive being applied? Like radiator cowl rubbing on body.
Is the noise in time with engine revs, wheel revolutions or with suspension movement - like a CV boot or clip rubbing or a dry suspension cup?

Car back and I can confirm the noise disappears when the the gear is engagedand in drive . Definitely not wheels scrubbing on the bodywork and definetly from the front not the back ???

Again, is the squeak in time with the engine, wheel rotation, suspension movement or random?

So pleased you found the problem because that wasn't very high on my list of next suggestions.

Good...I would also make sure the hub is packed correctly with the right grease...if it can squeal with one castellation backed off...it may have also overheated a bearing...
