I have purchased the air filter housing from Gumtree Paul & it should arrive this week. I have resuscitated my Fram filters & will be interested to see how they go given gotogreen’s experience. If unsuccessful will go back to the E9001 K&N. After contacting a link supplied by Timmy, I have a UK Mini enthusiast interested in purchasing my Janspeed airbox for his Janspeed Conversion car. He has asked me for a price.......ummmm no idea. Any thoughts from the highly educated Mini forum?

Sorry if it’s a bit too late. 200mm all up including the breather on the front

Ok be air box received. This is different to mine, what is this?

I thought the filter housing would just lift straight off & replacement put on however, I realise my JS housing is different. It has a longer attachment which is slightly curved with a bugled end. Is this standard? Any clues for me to get it off? Pictures aren’t great.

The part out the front isn't connected to anything. The air will still go through the filters before it goes in the engine.

The intake pipe that you've circled is commonly cut shorter on used examples. The longer it is, the hotter the air it's sucking in. I wouldn't worry about it being shorter, it should improve the intake temperatures and make it slightly easier to fit.

All makes sense. The length of the intake pipe is making it difficult to get out. Is there a secret mini manoeuvre?

Can you post a picture of the whole air cleaner showing intake pipe on the bottom of the filter, it looks strange to me.

They normally have an extension on the end as Timmy said held with a clamp. Even with this fitted it shouldn't be to hard to lift off.

On the original S, this allows the intake to be moved closer or not to the exhaust to adjust the temperature of the air entering the engine depending on the season.. i.e. close for winter and further away (cooler air) in summer....

Cheers, Ian

I think the issue with mine is that the extension is not held on with a clamp but appears to be possibly a permanent weld.

Well here it is - extracted at last! The new filter housing is on with the FRAM filters in place. Only need to buy a new Cooper sticker & the job is finally done 8)
