The K&N E-9001 arrived and fit perfectly. They were expensive at $65 each (and that was cheap on eBay), but they are washable/reusable.

Happy at last.

Congratulations on a match at last. I decided to open my air filter box to have a look at the Fram set which were the only ones I could get the lid to close with. UmmmmmI don’t think they should look like this!!!

Not sure why your having such a hard time getting any airfilters to fit. The GT had the skinny airbox so there should be readily available filters to fit your airbox.

It may be easier to buy this MK2 Airbox if it is the deeper type. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/beaudes ... 1162329224

I agree, it should be simple. As far as I know it is the original box. It appears the one that was in it was a home made job. The mechanic was supposed to return it to me after the tune up but it was discarded. You can see how much the filters have been crushed to allow the lid closure. Thanks for the link

I know that Mini Kingdom sells two different thickness paper filters.
Maybe talk to John?

Now THAT'S what you call pancake filters.

You must have the thinner type of filter box. Good luck working out the right filters, they must be out there because I have seen plenty of late Mk 2 and GTs with them, Also lots of UK cars had them.

I’m ready to rip my hair out!! I contacted the gumtree link & asked for the filter box dimensions which are 300/200/40 deep. Mine is 300/180/40. If it was 200 it would sit well over the carbies. I will upload photos to see if anyone can see another problem apart from the filter size. I was beginning to wonder if the filter box was a ring in with a Cooper sticker on it.

That looks to be one of the later Rover Cooper ones. I’ll see if I can find the link for you

Well,

It seems that the base plate of the filter case is from the very rare Cooper "S Pack" from the Cooper Car Co in the 90's.

The lid should have a matching oval shape to help locate the single filter.

From here. I'll see if I can find a part number, although without the matching lid it might be a bit futile.

You might be better selling the base of the filter to the UK as they are hard to find

We probably should have asked for photos of the airbox at the start. Would have saved alot of headache.
I just assumed it was the skinny GT style.

Yes, but who'd have thought you'd have a Cooper Conversions filter case out here!

If you have the complete air filter case personally I'd sell it back to the UK and buy an original Mk2 filter case for your car. Otherwise it might be tricky to find the right size filter. You might be able to take it into your local parts shop and have a fumble through their stock and hope you find one the right size
