I have a Rover EFI tank (with SPI pump) and I need a couple of things clarified : 1) What is the function of the part "27" in this diagram. http://www.minispares.com/catalogues/classic/Classic~Mechanical~Parts~Manual/Fuel~~Exhaust/Fuel~Tanks~and~Pumps.aspx?2~18~176 It's described as a cut off valve but what is it's function/what does the valve do? 2) There is a 2 way breather that attaches to this line but does the breather attach to anything else or just vent externally? 3) I need to upgrade the pump to something that will support 160hp. Any suggestions on what pump to use? I'd prefer to retain an in-tank pump |

Parts 27 and 28 are part of a breather system for the tank: the other end of this is connected to the charcoal canister, and then the purge valve and finally that connects into the throttle body of an injected car. I guess the different valves function differently depending which way the gas is going (to engine to vent or to tank to not create vacuum in tank). Replacing the standard pump with any Walbro or similar pump designed for any modern performance car should be more than fine. I fitted one designed for a subaru or mitsubishi i think for my Conversion car. Just make sure you upgrade the wiring though- some of these higher flow pumps pull a lot of amps. |

I don't have the carbon/charcoal canister anymore. If I install the tank breather line with the 2 way breather and no carbon canister, would there be fumes lingering if the car is sitting around for some time? Good idea on the wiring upgrade - I could even install a relay in the boot for the upgraded fuel pump if required. |

If you dont have the charcoal canister I'd block the outlet and fit a vented fuel cap (unless your car need the canister due to regulations). |

FYI, I ended up using a universal Bosch pump "BFP0382" capable of 105lph and Bosch has this as a replacement for lots of cars including V6 Magna & Commodores so suitable for 160hp. |
