I just recently bought a Morris 850 which Ill be doing a full restoration.
It has sliding door windows and I was wonder if wind-up window doors will fit or can I install the winding mechanism onto the existing doors?

Also, are there any reputable sandblasting/protective coating companies south west of Sydney?

Cheers.

The doors are completely different - but if you have some complete doors they can be swapped over.
The plastic catches and soor seals are different though I think.

Not many cars left with the sliding windows - I'd stay with them if it was me, but I don't use the car often enough to justify the swap either.
:D

There was a clearance issue where the latch tongue meets the striker plate on the door aperture. Wind-up door apertures have a recessed pressing to move the striker plate slightly to the rear of the car and I seem to remember that some conversions were easy but others needed "adjusting".

Cool, thanks for the replies. I may keep the original sliding windows. Just trying to get some ideas and ease of the job.

I replaced windup doors with a set sliding doors that my car should have (and now has). The only change necessary was to fit the correct seals. Mind you, mine is an English shell...

Wind ups are MUCH heavier.

Cheers, Ian
