On the brochure for the Mini K, you can clearly see a squared off base for the gear shift rubber boot on the floor. Did all Mini’s have this part or was it a "K" detail?

It's just the profile of the rubber mat as fitted to the Mini K, and others. The carpet on your Cooper S would sit around the rubber gaiter and not look as squared off as the rubber mat. The floor pressing underneath is the same across all the models.
