Hello members,

I've got a 74 Leyland Mini and are looking for suggestions on where to get the Anchor point installed (my mini did not have this set up)

So far, during my research, I've come across KidsnCars (a gentleman called Michael). Has anyone used his services?

If not, who have you used that you would recommend? I am in Melbourne.

Thanks in advance,
Richard

I haven't actually used these guys but plan to in a few weeks to get an anchor point in my round nose van.

It sounds like it is $305 for most jobs unless there are extra mods needed.

The dealings over the phone I had were great.

The installer they use seems pretty flexible and seemed to know Mini's.

Many thanks Humphrey78 for your input. I will give them a call next month when I plan on getting it installed.

Best,
Richard

I got the anchor point installed last week and had a good experience, I dealt with Joel who was great.

My 3yo daughter loved driving in the mini car over the weekend as did I!

If you are ok to drill a couple of small holes in your rear parcel shelf and the shelf hasn't got too many large holes already, it is an easy DIY job. You can get a mount kit from any of the accessory retailers.
I did my '98 Rover to get it complianced for it's first roadworthy. Was in Geelong.

I'm not familiar with the reinforcing of the '98 Rover parcel shelf but I assume it is well engineered if it was independently and properly checked for compliance before getting your roadworthy. The early Australian built Minis had no provision for seat belt mounting in the rear with various forms of strengthening included at different times throughout production to suit regulations at the time. Whilst you can easily drill a hole and whack in a mounting bolt so it looks OK externally this is a dangerous approach, as discussed many times on here. If you want the seat belt mounting to stay in place in an accident and not rip the parcel shelf out or simply pull through the mounting then it's best to get it done properly and legally as already suggested.

It might help others if you could post some photos of the end result.
