Post subject: | Bullet Connectors |
Need some original bullet connectors to rewire as the new harness I purchase on gumtree has spades for the indicators and my indicator 35840 has bullets. Any help would be appreciated as I am trying to resurrect a 1969 Mk2 Cooper S and the original wiring has been messed with. What is the part number? Where are they available? Do I need a special crimping machine for the bullets? Do the bullets need to be soldered? |

You need 4.7mm male bullet connectors. These are the pressed metal terminals, not the solid brass type found on some replacement parts. I get mine from Vehicle Wiring Products in the UK, who also sell a full range of colour-coded wire if you need to repair the harness. Could try "ConvertibleMini" on this site if you only want a small number of connectors. The original terminals were made by either Utilux or Lucas ("Lucar" style) - Both gone. Narva sell a bullet connector but it's 4mm for a Japanese standard and won't fit minis. You 'should' use a special crimping tool that rolls the clamping bands onto the wire, not just crushing them, like the insulated terminals everyone sells. |

These are what I have used to repair and modify my wiring harness for bullets. They are shorter than the original terminals but fit perfectly. http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/p ... 7mm-bullet The crimping tool is: http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/p ... -terminals |

Try britishwiring.com in the USA they have all the correct sizes and types in stock, bullets come in different sizes for the wire size and also crimp or solder type! They stock all types ans have the correct crimping tool for the bullets. I've been using them for many years and have always been most helpful. http://www.britishwiring.com/Ratchet-St ... p/tt85.htm |
