Was admiring an immaculate '57 DB2 yesterday with the owner when I commented the ignition looked the same if not identical to that in my '67 DeLuxe. Give it a go he said, it worked! My key will start an Aston Martin. Owner was bemused. We were left wondering what other Mini bits are the same. As you can imagine, Aston parts attract a massive premium price. Now he knows if his ignition switch goes U/S he can go buy Mini! If his $400,000 plus Aston goes missing he will hunt me down he reckons haha!

Now you just need a remote to his garage!

I often spot bits and pieces shared between UK built cars - Morris Minor tail lights were used on a few different cars

The old holdens, I'm talking early 60's-mid late 60's only had 58 different keys.

I have a ring of British keys from the 50's 60's with about 25 keys on it, I've never failed to find one that will fit any car that comes into the shop. I think it's just a case of very old and very worn keys and tumblers............

I had a guy come and buy an Indicator switch from me which normally fits the Mk2 S, Mini K and Leyand Mini. When I asked him what it was for (he brought his old one with him) he told me it was for his 1972 Lamborghini. It was exactly the same apart from the connectors. He was stoked at the Mini price of $100. He did not want to reveal to me what the Lambo one costs to buy.
