Im needing to replace my upper and lower dash vinyl on my 7/70 Mk2 S.

I was wondering if anybody knows where i may obtain some original vinyl as used from factory ( Don't like my chances)

OR

If there is an exact or very close match on look, colour and grain pattern that is currently available or used???

These are from MKO. Other Mini parts suppliers may also have these items so check the Mini businesses folder for alternatives.

Thanks for that Doug.

I will get onto MKO to see how accurate the vinyl is compared to the original.

Is this vinyl used on the A pillars?

From my understanding its only used on the upper & lower dash rail as well as the rear wheel arch tops inside the car.

I may be wrong but only thought these were the only areas on a Mk2 S.

Only body colour paint on the A pillar above the upper dash rail.

So if the car is say crystal white or jet red then the A pillar would be that colour?

As far as I'm aware, yes, although always happy to be corrected.

There was discussion a few months ago where someone thought the black paint on their A pillar was factory, but others (including me) disagreed and thought it would have been applied by a PO, perhaps as an anti-reflective measure.

Yes.

BMC Australia made its own trim and the A pillar is not included.

Good question, Brenton. I've seen MKO's material close up but haven't held it next to the original to compare. John says it is very close, but he'll take a photo next to some original next time one of his colleagues brings their Cooper S in.

Apparently the late MK II's had a slightly different material that was similar to the vinyl on the seat cushion, but not stretchy like the seat material.

Doug, is there any formal documentation saying our Cooper S's were body colour on the A pillar?

Cheers Mat

I too am in the same boat. My car had its original vinyl removed years ago. I bought the material from MKO and in my opinion its nothing like the original. Saying that I have searched also and it seems to be the closest match. Below is comparison. The pic is from a mates original mk2 lower rail.

I wonder if anybody else has found something closer.....
