I'll be fitting an isolator switch to mine and definitely a cover after reading this.

Having it hidden inside the car is a good idea too. Bonus security.

I changed a wheel and just threw my jack into the boot, down the bump driveway and the jack shorted between the +'ve terminal and the metal fuel line to the RH tank - interior full of smoke, jumped out, opened the boot, flames jumping out at me, back in, grab the extinguisher and put it out....

everyone needs proper battery terminal covers AND a fire extinguisher in an accessible place

When holding a Drone to connect a Lipo battery and it goes up you throw the drone away without considering how much damage to the drone you gave to fix

The cover doesn't need to be too fancy. A rubber matt over the whole floor of the boot will do.

The isolators with the round knob on them do the trick in the boot and aren't expensive. Isolate in a jiffy.

I have a boot board sitting on the Contessa spare wheel and all my junk, jack etc in a plastic bin.
