I’d say rust is number one. Mechanical things can be fixed, rust can be a bit more of a challenge.

As Hpal said , rust would be your biggest enemy , get the owner to show you where he did the repairs , next , ask him the details on the engine , what the specs are , how long ago was it done and was the gearbox reconditioned at the same time .

If you go for a drive or he takes you for a drive , what does the gearbox feel like , does it feel nice , make sure it doesn't jump out of gear , check underneath for oil leaks , ask him if he knows of any issues with the car .

From the pic it looks like a nice tidy car , good luck .

I would suggest getting a mechanic to look at it, or at least someone who knows what they're looking at. I would want to view some receipts for the work thats been done also. It looks tidy enough but you need to know what may have been covered up.
Is it registered? The ad on gumtree says it is but doesnt list the rego number.

9 panels could mean 9 little bits as big as matchboxes or a boot floor, main floor, fire wall, turret, 2 rear 1/4's an new A pillars. Check out the paint work, now many people will put $4,000 paint job over bogged up rust. If its a $150 enamel job be warey.

Good luck. looks cool. Hit the seller up for any special tools, spares parts and manuals he might have, you never know what you might get.

Your distributor should have the number cast in the side (25D, 29D, 45D) and you can pick up a kit to match. I wouldn’t expect too much of a power increase, but it’s easier than adjusting points.

Cheers, hard to Install?? I have some paper work for some work done on the engine and it said a electronic ignition would help it along a bit
