So as I understand it the recipe for rust removal on metal surfaces is 1 part molasses 1 part water soak rusty part for good while then wash off in clean water |

Just make sure that there is no oil or grease on the parts as the mollasses won't get rid of it . I just do a 50/50 mix ,(it doesn't have to an be exact measurement) in a kids wheelie bin , i pour a couple of buckets of hot water in the bin first , then 1/2 the bucket of mallasses and give it a stir , then some more hot water and the rest of the mollasses and rinse the bucket out with hot water . The bath will evaporate as well over time so you might have to top it up with tap water now and again. |

I bough 2Lt from Kirkwoods for $4.50, mixed it up about 4:1 and put it in the engine water jackets with the water pump on, will have a look after 6 days and see what it's done. |

Won't do much in 6 days. I would leave it in for 2 weeks, drain, flush, fill again. Look in another 2 weeks. As for the mix, 1:2 or 1:3 molasses: water works best. |

Another option is caustic soda to get rid of grease and the phosphoric acid dip to clean and etch for painting . Very fast turn around. Here are some arms ive done After caustic bath: After phosphoric dip: Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
