The Schrader valves in the Hydro were special high pressure ones they are not normal cheap tyre ones even though they look the same.

But the theory is that the valve is only there to hold pressure till you fit the valve cap anyway!

That's interesting. Where do you get them?

I just use the old ones and have never had any failures. There is never any fluid under the valve caps.
NOS ones are available from some good Mini parts places.

OK thanks. I know MKO has the complete valve but I thought you were referring to the valve core being unique. I'll be doing my suspension soon so thought I'd put in new valve cores as a precaution as there's some rubber bits in there.

If you had a leak it would be sitting down by now, haha.

Might have been a coolant leak. Coolant can drop from the lower hose or radiator run down the subframe and pool just underneath the front hydro connection. All you see is a green drip and its nowhere near the engine.

Well it's been a while and she is holding up. I could not understand why one side went down. Oh well thank you everyone for the help.

I found this interesting...may be a good solution to dodgy aftermarket valves? :D

The valves can't cause a problem if you fit a proper valve cap.
It isn't an issue.

That would be the original metal ones, made of brass with the hexagon type top?

They work but original ones were steel with a conical domed point. Handy to push the valve stem in and let her down.;)
