I couldn't remember if i had posted this before or not.... Apologies if i have.
This is a picture of a Mk2 S thick flange block showing the block casting.
I have read in my many hours of searching the web and books that
the Mk2 S engine blocks have the casting: 'AEG-312' and read also that they can have "AEG-634" with the number part being stamped in some cases instead of casted...
This example seems to show that, but its the last number that has got me curious as its an upside down " 5 " which may be to denote the number " 4 ".
Could this stamping also be due to the casting not coming out correctly after the casting process, in which they grind it down and then stamp the number in
Im interested to hear everyones thoughts on this and wether anyone has seen this before
Regards, Mark
