Check engine mounts steadies gearbox mounts but more probably internal

If its a rod change box then it could be worn or loose parts in the shifting mechanism. A loose gearlever, worn internal yoke or broken rubber mounts can cause it to pop out of gear.

Any of the following:
Wear of 3rd gear and synchro hub drive dogs,
weak synchro hub springs,
Worn 3-4 selector fork,
Weak detent spring(s),
End float in 3rd gear.

Here is a bit of info on the rod change if you also have a sloppy gearchange. https://www.moke.com.au/in-the-garage/g ... gearchange

Hope its not an internal box issue. Good luck.

Mine did that after fitting a new rubber boot / gaiter thingy to the rod change unit.
The new one was too long and pushing against the collar with the roll pins in it.

It will be the dog teeth on the gear and sink hub .

In your post that you put up when you brought the car you said that it came with receipts , is there any paperwork amongst it that shows that any thing had been done to the gearbox?

If it is a rod change, check 1) gear lever, 2) connecting coupling 3) gear Lever locating pin in selector housing.

If it is not a Rod Change type check the selector toggles, make sure they are aligned correctly and they are tight,

The above may fix your problem if not then my guess is it is internal, which may have been caused by problems mentioned above
