I'd like to ask is that the first or last printout, What did they charge you and did they do any changes to improve it

If I can remember Franks is around $170 for a Dyno and Mini Clasic $550 Bench.

I had my car dynotuned... the guy said it was putting out about 28kW at the wheels and i thought that seemed a bit low for a 1098 with mild cam, LCB and weber... but obviously not. 28kW is 37.5 HP... thats only just better than that south african 1275.
Does anyone know the percentage of power lost through the transmission on a standard rod change setup?

i think you might be right about it being a little low (not much tho)

as gafmo pointed out....i'd be asking what they did to improve steveandash's output after seeing that printout

my mate's (jim) 1310 pulled 60 hp at the wheels.

I was at the MCC shootout on Frank K's dyno last time. It took a GOOD 1275 to break 50HP at the wheels, on this dyno then.

Chassis dynos do vary lots from place to place, tyre pressures affect the readings too.

Exactly Doc, you can only really compare figures with each other if they where done on the same Dyno on the same day as even the temperature can change it (esp turbo's & SC). That's why I had Redfive booked in straight after me in the WRX dyno day.

Oh BTW in case your interested one of the WRX's (99 STi V5, 2 door) put out 265kw ATW with 50hp nitrous (though he'd forgotten to fill it beforehand so was nearly empty) and 250kw without nitrous. His car is basically a drag car, but still street driven (not with the nitrous connected.)

Thanks grouse_bogan! That's much better.

Thats more than my 300ZX put out with a 3 litre V6.

i should point out that my print out wasn't on a dyno, it was done with my gtech meter. so there is a little bit of loss for aerodynamics too. the mini was only 1 hp down on my mates auto gemini.
so yeah after getting that out put i have done nothing except the electronic ignition. it does seem a lot smoother and meybe even a bit more power. i'll have to hook it up again and see what i get now.
