It all depends on the spec of your engine.. If you have a stock 1100 not chewing the juice just use the standard tank. if you're stressing about mileage use the larger tank. You don't need 2 tanks from what you have told us....

I went with the second tank option for my car as that was what came up for sale at the right time. In my mind the twin tanks are more space efficient for the capacity that they offer. They take up all the useless space in the corners and leave the middle free. The big LHS tank intrudes a bit on the left side, although they don't require any modifications to the car. You might be limited to the size of the spare tyre you can fit under the tank?

For my car with the 850 un-stabilised fuel gauge it was much easier to keep the original LHS tank too than having to adapt to a later fuel sender..

I'm going to run 10x5 wheels with 165 tyres so the only issue will be height of the boot board. Timmy looking at the two pictures there is more space by the look of it with the twin tanks.

I would suggest using just a stock steel wheel with a 145 tyre as your spare, that way you maximize your space. Really no point in having a matching 165 as a spare unless u are planning to rotate your 5 wheels.

But just make sure you have the wheel nuts and the sockets needed to remove one wheel and replace it with a different type.

Yes true. If I swap to a set of mags on my car I have to remember to also include a different wheel brace and a set of standard wheel nuts.

I run 10x5 Contessas and another in the boot. The boot board sits on the tyre, I have no brackets. A plastic crate above the spare carries all my spares jack and wheel brace.
It's a Matic body but has twin tanks.

This is a photo from a Sportspack Rover, they always fitted a narrow alloy spare as it has to fit under the tank, you might struggle fitting a 10x5 wheel and 165 tyre

Bugger. I've just tracked down a fifth contessa wheel to use as my spare.
