Hey everyone, I currently have what looks to be a reproduction 21A292 or 21A291Z (Made in Canada is stamped on the top of it) van tank fitted many years ago (original tank rusted) I'm trying to replace the neck rubber 14A7057 and for the life of me it doesn't look like its ever going to fit due to there not being enough neck on the tank to hang out into the bodywork. looking at a few pictures of original tanks and reproduciton ones on the internet and the repro ones seem to have a 1cm thicker lip on the top Has anyone come across this? are the reproduction tank neck shorter? anyone with a standard tank able to do some measurements? Thanks Goodie, measuring the longest part of the neck definitely shows that my tank is shorter by about 1cm. Yours is genuine yes? |

Fill tank with water, cut neck and use another neck to lengthen it. Weld with MIG, TIG or oxy. If tank is new and unused, no need to fill it. |

I used a fake neck to fix mine, after some villain bent the bayonets removing a locking cap sometime in the past. |

Thanks for your help everyone. I'm going to order a new neck from mini kingdom and get someone to weld it on to extend the filler slightly. (No welder here) My tank is made by a company in Canada and is referred to a ni-terne steel which is nickel plated. How easy is it to weld this? |

It is steel coated with lead (terne) and maybe nickel. Rheem Australia where I worked made OMC outboard fuel tanks out of terne plate, the bottom was resistance welded in so it will weld ok. Sand the edges a little before welding. |
