G'day all recently got the car on the road. Just done a 100k round trip. Pulled into my driveway and turned car off. When out a short time after and went to start. But it wouldn't. All I was getting when turning the key was a clicking noise from the starter solenoid and then nothing else. Has the starter solenoid died on me? If so who sells the best one? |

Could be starter solenoid or starter. You could try 'bridging' the big terminal with a screwdriver, if start works its the solenoid. |

I bridged a screwdriver across the two large terminals and it wanted to weld the screwdriver to it. I'm getting 12.73 volts at the battery and across the solenoid |

Plenty of amps there-just perfect for welding! The push-button solenoids on the earlier minis are the best IMO. I've the later model ones have a use by date, I have found. |

If its trying to weld them together and no go in the spinning department, then it sounds like starter shorted or part there of. Check where wire goes into end of starter, it has piddly little insulators and can get twisted and damaged easily, especially with a bit of age under its belt. |

Has the starter bendix gear jammed on the ring-gear and not disengaged? This will give a click noise but no starter. Put car in a gear, handbrake off, and push car back and forward to free bendix gear - you will sometimes hear a soft click as it lets go. Alternately, hit starter motor body with a blunt instrument for similar result. |
