Afternoon all,
After some time fixing an extremely odd clutch issue in the wife's 1602, it's time to get back onto the mini. Hay isn't far away :|

Now, question with the wiring.

-Battery positive supply is easy enough and is in situ.

-Upper (large) spade terminal (help!?)

-Lower (small) spade terminal will be the switched trigger for the starter itself?

I'll also have to supply the charge feed from the alternator - I assume it would be easiest and best to go to the battery positive cable?

Cheers,

you're right with small one and alt wire. Mine has nothing on big terminal.

Well, quick update for anyone with one of these starters - upper large spade terminal is the starter trigger... Which is a pain to find out, once you've cut/terminated/shrink wrapped and zip-tied all your wiring into place :(

My 2 cents worth. The large terminal is the starter trigger like was said previously. The smaller spade is not used on a Mini. It is a resistor bypass feed which becomes live with 12Volts + when cranking. These solenoids fit many other applications besides Mini .

the resistor bypass is used with some Minis over here. 998ccm Austin-Rover ones from 1984 to 91
