I can't find my workshop manual. Can anyone tell me what the minimum thickness is for a brake drum for the rear of the mini?

The new pair I picked up yesterday have 'MAX DIA 179.3MM' cast in to them, which is 7.060", or 60 thou over standard.

Thanks. I'll measure some that I have at home before getting new ones.

I wouldn't bother ****ing around with measuring brakes shoes id just go new all the time no question asked

Messing around with old brakes parts is like playing Russian roulette i wouldn't do it for around $25 or so a set new

guys I think you are misunderstanding what is being asked here, they are discussing the "service limit" on the drums themselves, not the shoes
seems a bit arbitrarily to throw out the drums each time you change shoes, doesn't it?
I have a car here I just removed the drums and binned them and they were over 50 years old, according to the dates on them.

I thought the question was answered by Matt I on the very first reply.

I understand standard what the question is about but bare in mind when skimmed you should you over size brake shoes to compensate for drum machining

I replaced mine as all the spacer drums I had were either machined oversize or warped, and oversize linings to match the drums were twice the price of new standard ones... I agree that replacing everything generally makes more sense now based on the cost compared with machining and linings to suit.
