Do a Google search on rubber buffers.

Last time I was in Clarke Rubber they had various sizes of those.

What does a beehive heater look like and what years was it fitted?

The Smiths RF230 Beehive Heater was used on few different cars of the 60's and 70's. It could be purchased as an after market heater kit as well.

Between Oct and Dec 1970 some of the MK2 Cooper S cars were factory fitted with these before the Plastic Clubman style was fitted to the 1971 Cooper S / Mini K. So far I have come across 11 late 1970 Cooper S cars with it fitted.

They were bolted through the firewall with 3 bolts and the standard J brackets were removed.

Here is a pic of it fitted to car 2700 and a rear photo showing the mounting buffers.

I see a handbrake warning light, so is this an SPO41 car? If so we should update the Register.

Hi All,

I am here to get back into the old school Mini Cooper 'S' or Clubman GT.

I was once in the pit crew for Lakis Manticas at Hume Weir when he was racing against Peter Brock when he was fibre glassing his 1070cc Austin Mini Cooper 'S' to light weight it, many nights were spent tuning his cars in Woy Woy and testing it and I got fibre glass in my skin, young and foolish in the 1960's.
I have had many Cooper esses since then, the last was 1970 model which was sold several years ago. Maybe someone knows the owner and I can buy it back.

Thanks gtogreen,

Never seen one of those, you learn everyday. The one I have must be the Clubman type. Were any of them any better than the others? The Clubman type is quite good...

I believe the clubman style moved the most air of them all. That was one of the reasons for the change in heater types.

No, but I think I now have plenty to go on. At work now and will have time to search around

There are heaps of different sized rubber buffers called "button bumpers". https://www.google.com/search?q=rubber+ ... 60&bih=567
