hello. i search to understand the different mk1 and 2 in australia, in europe is not the same. europe : 1959 at 1967 : mk1 1967 at 1969 : mk2 1970 : mk3 in australia, you have european mk1 doors and australian doors regards pics if is possible |

1961 to 1965 = sliding windows 1965 to 1970 = windup windows 1971 to 1978 = windup windows + liftup door handles 1961 to 1969 = Mk1 1969 to 1971 = Mk2 1971 to 1978 = Clubman/Leyland |

Were any of the basic models ever officially called "Mk2" in any of the factory documents? I've always though that once the 1100 engine was used in the K and 1100 that was the changeover? Mini Minor -> Mini 1100 Deluxe -> Mini K The Mini-Matic was the only one that continued with the same badge. Obviously the Cooper S had Mk2 factory designation but what about the others? |

I like the comment by Stibbsy, - when I was much younger, there was no Mk1 Cooper S or any other variant that us general public knew of. |

1098 automatic was used in Morris 1100 until they went to the 1100S auto (1275). I don't believe the 1098 auto officially went into the Mini range, even though my Matic's compliance plate prefix is incorrectly stamped YG2S5. The body prefix is stamped YA 2S5. For the 998. I am aware of one Minimatic with the 1098 auto, allegedly original production. It would have made it a better car. |

The square rear lights were Clubman only All Australian cars had the "MK1" rear window size, and all had the short front doors (UK Mk2 onwards had taller doors) |

Australian built minis are all based on the original UK MK1 body shell. We didn't get the larger rear window and always had the external door hinges. The boot lid, wind up windows with quarter vents and burst proof door locks are really the only significant changes. There are a lot of minor variations to the body shell but the bodies are all still based on the original UK MK1 shell. Even the clubman front variation was still based on the original UK MK1 style body shell. Just saying. RonR |

RonR That explains why the new floors I have fitted to my 1965 mini, (boot & interior) sourced from a 1972 Clubman, fit absolutely perfectly! |
