Hi all, The latch on both doors sticks out too far and makes it difficult to shut the door. I took the latches out, and they seem to be sealed, without any adjustment. Is this correct? I was going to shorten the latch by grinding it down, but thought I'd check here first to see if there was a better option. Thanks, Richard |

Do you mean the tongue sticks too far out of the door and almost hits the edge of the door opening? If so, there is no adjustment of the tongue in the latch unit like you say. Check to see if the hinges are worn and are letting the door droop. If there is excess wear in the hinge pins, you often get rub marks on the door opening in the top rear edge where the window frame rubs. Solution is to repair or replace the hinges. Temporary solution might be to adjust the white nylon triangular rubbing block below the striker plate, so that it helps to lift the door slightly as the door gets close to closing. |

Yes, tongue sticks out too far. I'll recheck the door gaps, it's not rubbing anywhere. Thanks for the info re adjustability. |

my car has been hit in the front and rear on the right hand side, the wheelbase is 10mm shorter on the right than it is on the left and the door opening is slightly smaller than it should be. I ground the tongue down to make it shut easier |

I don't know how it happens but the tongues gradually stick out further as the latch mechanism wears. They are only soft and I have ground them down and filed them back into shape in situ. Its even possible to do it without damaging the paint - if you take care. Don't take too much off, they are somewhat safety critical.  Tim |

Thanks Tim! I've pulled them out of the car, so paint should be safe, and my grinder should do a quicker job too. |
