On mine, both ends are doubled over for extra grip. The body side has a pressed metal plate to cover the doubled thickness of webbing, using 2 countersunk screws.
The door side is also doubled and uses a thick, flat bar and a round pin to hold the doubled webbing to the door. In Doug's photos, you can't see the flat bar and pin as the webbing covers it.
