Where does the rear harness make entry into boot space? Through the gaps at parcel tray that are sealed by sponge or the hole down low on left side behind rear seat back?

The "hole down low on left side..." , if it is in the rear firewall and not the floor, is for a locating prong from the rear seat backrest to poke through. There's another hole on RH side for the same.

While the harness is out it might be the time to run an extra white wire to the back to supply future Electric Fuel pump.
