Unfortunately I learnt the hard way how to check the trembler coils on a running Model T. My Dad and his mate thought it would be hilarious to show me how to check the points and drop a cylinder out, but failed to tell me not to touch the top and bottom bridge of points at the same time. Needless to say I’m VERY careful when I do it now. It’s only 6v, but st 1.5A it packs a pretty good punch.

I reckon there's a bit of a clue in this - while it's running, take the spark plug lead off each cylinder in turn, starting with #1 - I don't think there will be any difference when you take #1 and #2 off, but it'll conk out when you take off #3 or #4

you might get a shock or two, you'll get over it, just be brave when you grab the lead, you're more likely to get a shock if you're hesitant

Check the coil is not wired backwards. Will still work but with reduced output voltage. Can give funny results.
