Did the 73' Clubman GT come with the factory radio? If it does how does the trim mount? Thanks

I have looked through my GT pics and the majority do not have radios. They were an option and dealer fitted. The radio was an AWA MG17. A radio supplied and fitted in 1973 cost $110.

The Clubman and Clubman GT used the same mounting case with the radio located at the top and speaker at the bottom. Most of these have "Clubman" on the bottom left and "Solid State" on the bottom right.

Here are a few Leyland radios used in the early to mid 70s.

The early Clubman radios were supplied by AWA so if you cant find a Leyland branded one then an AWA branded one would be the next best.

BMC ASTOR - Diamond dot was used by earlier minis.

Radiomoblie was used by later minis.

The buttonless version is the correct one for a clubman GT. Not all GTs came with a radio depending if the car buyer wanted to pay a few extra $ for one.
I have one that didn't have one and thus has no hole in the guard.
The same radio was also fitted to the mini clubman.
They seem to be a bit difficult to come by these days and have been sold in the past for several hundred $ (atleast asked for several hundred)

This was the one fitted to the 1971 Magazine test cars.

Nice great information, the radio would be a nice option to have in the car. I now need that base that holds the face and the radio, Thanks

Unfortunately that appears to have been chopped out and butchered
