My dash/speedo light is so dull to the point where I can't see what speed I'm travelling at night- not good! Checked the globes and all is good. Is this normal? Any suggestions?

What model? Could be something as simple as a loose connection.

If its a Clubman / Leyland then it should have an adjustable Rheostat Dimmer Switch. Usually under the dash next to your right knee. It has a black knob with a P on it. Bypassing it will give you full 12v and bright panel lights.

Don't go putting higher wattage Bulbs in the Cluster. It has disastrous consequences. I also have new Dash Light dimmers $35.00 if any one is interested PM me.

Just wondering what is the correct wattage for an old smiths tachometer. I have a similar problem that it is quite dim compared to the standard dash.

Bulbs in Cluster should not exceed 3 watts.

The standard bulb that came with the Smiths tacho and other Smiths gauges is Lucas LLB987 at 2.2 watts.
