I hate to make comments about oil as I don't know anything about oils or their qualities and suitability.
I have used Penrite Classic Mini oil and it improved the gearchange (as synchros are getting worn).
Recently had an S motor built by an old specialist in A and B series motors and his recommendation was Penrite HPR30 for running-in and regular use.
Have used HPR30 in other minis in recent years and seems OK -especially with worn synchros and seems about the same as the Mini Classic oil and both are intended for similar type engines.

Hi Ian_B

I use Penrite HPR 30 as well and have done so since 2003 for my Cooper S.
It was recommended as in Bill's case by a well known engine rebuilder.
I'm more than happy with the product.

Regards Pete.

Sorry to disappoint you :-) but the HPR 30 oil is for my 1970 Mk 2 Cooper S.
I finished restoring it in 2003 :-)
But I do use Castrol Edge 5w-30 in my VW Golf GTI.
