Hi,
I am fitting the handbrake cable guides and seals on my 850 and as I did not pull it apart I am not sure which way the rubber seals go. Does the side with the opening go toward the front (lever side) or to the back. Any help with this would be appreciated. I have added photos for clarification.

Hi Pat
The opening goes to the front (same as your top picture).
Cheers
Dave

Does the 850 have a guide plate and pad above AND below the floor, or just a plate above?
The 1966 mini I'm fitting has 2 rubber pads and 2 metal plates on each cable - the pads and plates inside the car fit as 'The Captain" has said; the ones under the car face to the rear, making a short tunnel for the cables to pass through.

Hi Bill
My 850 had guide plates and seals both above and below the floor
They looked like the originals when I first took them off.
Cheers
Dave
