Has anyone seen or got on of these fans? They were 4 blade, variable pitch. Supposed to increase hp by marginal amount.

Here’s one for the engineers- if it increases power (presumably measured at wheels) does that mean its not cooling the engine as well as the original fan would?

The Dowty sucked less power at higher RPM as it reduced the angle of the fan blades.

I wonder if any newer clutch style fans would be compatible with the mini?

yes, but at speed the fan gets in the way of airflow through the radiator - fan is only effective at low speed or when stopped

if it runs off the belt the same as other mech fans , i can't see it living up to measureable gains. IF you want to decrease power losses, then go electric - but have good coolant warning systems as well - pulley and fan old fashioned, quite effective and remarkably reliable - mostly good things unless you need to go for ultimate last percentage of power. - ( i think i saw something like 2-4 hp on an engine bigger than ours - but cant exactly recall. - just my take on wringing out horsepower

I had one on my first car, a hotted 1100 motor. From what I remember, it wasn't to great at idle, but always run cool at speed.
