Be the first and corner the market...

Some places sell springs and pins to service the locking lever, but I don't know how to remove the original pin. It doesn't drift through. It needs to be drilled out and I haven't found anyone who knows how to do this.

That should be a challenge for someone!

It is a blind hole in the handle so you are right, it needs to be carefully drilled out. You can see a pic of a NOS pin here - https://minikingdomonline.com.au/produc ... andle-pin/

MKO has NOS of the complete quarter vent with handle for the passenger side only in case that's an option. Otherwise I'm not aware of a simple solution to fix a really wobbly one.

I think everyone just replaces them with 2nd hand 1/4 windows.

I think you might be right. I considered this once.
I asked John (mini king) and Larry Howard (late) how to remove the pin and both acknowledged that neither had ever seen one drilled out, as the drill would drift into the softer merzak.

What about using a small milling cutter from the other side until it meets the pin, then punch the pin out?
Hardest part would be holding the damned handle in the mill with window attached..!!

Of course getting the pin out to remove the handle is one thing, but what do you do then?

I'm guessing it's the inside of the softer metal handle being worn away that makes the handle wobble, not the steel shaft on which it turns. Perhaps building up the shaft with some shim material, or drilling and lining the handle hole, otherwise I have no idea.

I think I have worked out a solution, cut a slot in a suitable stainless steel washer and slide it under the handle where the gap is this will take out the wobble ,washer is held in with araldite ,where it locks araldite a small piece of 2mm stainless steel to the bearing surface to take out freeplay.
If done correctly it will not be obtrusive and it will look neat, you could araldite the stainless steel to the bearing surface of the handle when the handle is closed it cannot be seen. I will try this soon as I will be gold prospecting for a time in the bush if I find gold I will get someone else to do it.

Don't forget, "gold is where you find it".

Hope this helps :P

A few years ago, member on here did manage to get the catch off its pivot. I remember seeing a photo of the remains of the pivot, which then posed Winabbey's question of repairing the pivot and/or the catch.
