Hey guys, Looking at replacing my suspension soon, cones, hilos and shocks and thinking of going with the Ripspeed Hilos and Gaz adjustable shock kit from Minisport. Are the Ripspeeds worth the extra dollars and what is the advantage of them? Also, I'm assuming the Gaz adjustables are a good option? Cheers Simon |

Part of the magic of the rubber cones is the shape of the contact patch on the Hilo or stock trumpet. The Ripspeed ones are supposed to be one of the better ones and are RAC approved for rallying. Whether you’d notice any difference on the road I don’t know. I bought the budget hilos, regular minispares rubber cones and KYB gas-a-just shocks and they work really well for a slow old 998. |

Matt @ Readspeed here in Australia makes different hilos to suit road or race application. Very good product. Hit him up for a price. |

+1 for Matt Read's hi los, and I've been pretty happy with the Gaz shocks for the price. |

Karcraft gets their billet alloy ones CNC machined by my mate in Kings Park Sydney. Well made too. `Some' imported ones now are sand cast rubbish. |

Does anyone know what size the Allen key is for the Ripspeed hilos? I've a set on my mini and want to adjust them and didn't get the size whilst they were out.

Minispares etc sell the adjusting rods, although if they are reasonably new ones you can adjust using the nuts on the hilos as well? If you use the hex rods on the rear you need to drill holes in the rear panel to get to the hilos Front: http://www.minispares.com/product/Class ... Thanks, mine are the old ones, without nuts or grub screws, the backs I've gotten out reasonably easily to adjust them as I didn't want to drill holes but I want to adjust the fronts as the cones seem to have settled a bit. No idea then what size the hexagonal rod is? I might just fish out one of the rears next time. Seems silly to order hex rod all the way from the UK. |
