Hi all.
I’ve taken the reverse detent out of my 3 sync remote box which was selecting all gears well before but now it only gets 1st 2nd and 4th, can’t physically put it into 3rd or reverse. I’ve put the detent plug back in but still no go, detent is free and can be taken in and out so it’s not jammed or anything. I have tried moving the wheels back and forth (car is in stands at the moment with cam out and head off. Also the oil has been drained. Don’t know as it was working before. Cheers

Weird. Did you replace the plunger right way around with the spring?.

Yes very strange. Plunger is in but spring and plug are out. I wonder if the plunger has to have spring weight on it to work? I wouldn’t think it would though

I'm a little curious as to why you removed the plug. Are you fitting a reversing lights switch?

Yes that’s the reason. Machining up a little plunger to make the cheaper mgb type switch work, I’ve misplaced the old plug though. I’m sure it’ll turn out to be something simple.
