Hi all,
In the process of cleaning parts off the Mini CS that I’m restoring. Whilst cleaning up the fuel pump, I noticed it has an identifier AUF221. I can’t find any literature which references an AUF221 but only AUF214 for a CS. Any ideas whether it is the correct type for an early 66 model? Thanks.

Likewise, I can't find any specific reference to AUF221. My SU/Midel book groups all the AUF200 as a series, presumably including AUF221 and AUF214 and quoting the same flow rate and pressure for all in the group.
My early '66 S had an aftermarket pump fitted and I have replaced it with an AUF214 (points version) which will suit negative or positive earth, as I have converted to neg earth.

Does the AUF221 have the plastic spouts for fuel in and out?

Yes, they’re black ‘hard’ plastic. I’m sure there is probably a more appropriate name for it but definitely not metal.

From the factory manuals, early Cooper, Ss and 998cc had an SP pump to around the mid 1960s. The many SP pumps were identified by AUAXXX numbers too. I have the impression that SU dropped the SP type of pump and made the AUF200 series the replacement with a new number allocated with a slight change to some part of the pump. The numbers seem to reflect specific applications; AUF201 for UK 998cc, AUF209 for early Austin 1800, AUF206 for A-Healey Sprites.
My guess is the AUF214 just kept being made because of the demand and that it can be used as an alternative on rarer cars. Your AUF221 seems to be identical to them in specification - all the parts should be interchangeable; just might have the spouts pointing in different directions but that's easily changed.

Thanks Bill. I’ll clean and service it and assume it’s the original. Certainly looks the real McCoy.

Anybody know where I could buy a repair kit for an AUF214/221 pump? I’m in Adelaide.

Cheers

Part number EPK200 is listed for the AUF214 repair kit. In the description is says "Suitable for AUF 200 Series fuel pumps"
