Mini Gearbox Centre Bearing Shim 001.JPG
How is the centre bearing checked to see which size shim is required?

Assemble without shims and screws finger tight. Measure gap with feeler gauge. Fit shim a thou or 2 thinner than the gap.
No shim = more preload against snap ring. Won't hurt bearing but may bend snap ring. Generally 1 shim fitted.
Too many shims and bearing can spin in housing.
